Hurricanes in Panama City Beach

Coastal cities in the Gulf of Mexico have been affected by  38 hurricanes originating in the Gulf, according to the National Weather Service.  

However, many of those recorded hurricanes had little or no effect on the Panama City Beach area.

The most significant hurricane damage in the area occurred as a result of Hurricane Michael, which made landfall near Mexico Beach, Florida, which is 33.9 miles away.  That hurricane came ashore on October 7, 2018, and continued until October 16, 2018.
